This October, the Hemet Valley Art Association is proud to feature artist, photographer, author, and educator Sherri Domenigoni.
Sherri is enjoying what she describes as a Renaissance in her art, working across photography, watercolor, acrylics, murals, and public art projects. Her photography has earned awards, while her broader creative work reflects a lifelong interest in nature, education, and storytelling.
Recently, Sherri created Birdie, a life-sized painted deer for Idyllwild’s well-known deer herd. She followed that project by painting a large heart-shaped sculpture for the Loma Linda Children’s Center transplant program, Harts of Hope.
Her creativity also extends to books. Sherri has written and illustrated four children’s books: The Lemon Lily Fairy, The Creature Teacher, Birdie’s Deer Tales, and her newest title, The Firebird of the Forest.
Nature has been a constant thread throughout Sherri’s life and work. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s in Education and spent much of her professional career teaching middle school science. She has also taught Junior Naturalist programs at the Nature Center and, for decades, has led National Audubon Society bird tours and participated in Christmas Bird Counts.
Sherri belongs to a number of local art, teaching, and nature organizations, bringing together interests that have shaped both her creative work and her involvement in the community.
Sherri and her husband live in Hemet and have two grown children. Through her photography, painting, public art, books, and love of the natural world, she continues to find new ways to combine art, education, and nature.
