About Hemet Valley Art Association

Our Story

Hemet Valley Art Association, Inc. (HVAA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-led art organization that has served the Hemet Valley since 1963. Founded by local artists and art supporters, HVAA began as a small group dedicated to creating a place where the community could experience and participate in the visual arts. Over the decades, the association has grown into a full gallery and art center, offering exhibits, classes, and programs that welcome visitors, students, and artists of all experience levels.

Today, the HVAA Gallery is located in Historic Downtown Hemet, where members and guests can enjoy rotating fine art and photography exhibits, handcrafted goods, and community events. The gallery is staffed by volunteers and supported by memberships, art sales, classes, and donations, which keep it open to the public five days a week.

Our Mission and Community Role

HVAA’s mission is to encourage and develop the appreciation, study, and practice of the fine arts and photography in the Hemet Valley. We work to educate, inspire, and enrich lives through exhibits, classes and workshops, scholarship fundraising, community programs, and our member-supported gallery. We believe that creating and experiencing art is essential to the cultural and social health of our community.

The association serves as a hub for local artists, photographers, students, and art lovers by providing opportunities to display work, participate in competitions, learn new skills, and connect with others. HVAA also partners with schools, community groups, and local organizations to support art education and public events in the region.

Supporting Youth and Emerging Artists

A core part of HVAA’s purpose is to encourage young people in the valley to continue their art education and creative development.

Scholarships and youth programs are funded by community donations, membership support, fundraising events such as the Evening of Art, and the continued success of the gallery. By visiting, becoming a member, or contributing to these efforts, supporters help ensure that the next generation of artists has opportunities to learn, grow, and be seen.

Where We Are Headed

Looking ahead, HVAA is focused on strengthening its role as a welcoming, inclusive art center for the Hemet Valley. Priorities include expanding classes and workshops for all ages, growing youth outreach and scholarships, and offering more opportunities for local artists and photographers to exhibit and sell their work.

The association is also working to deepen community connections through partnerships, special events, and collaborations with other cultural organizations and galleries. With continued support from members, volunteers, donors, and visitors, HVAA plans to keep the gallery vibrant and accessible for many years to come.
