Hummingbird Book Signing with Anthony Lujan
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Hemet Valley Art Association welcomed award-winning author, international hummingbird photographer, and conservation advocate Anthony Lujan for a special book signing event featuring his acclaimed book, Endangered Hummingbirds: Seeing the Crisis Through My Lens.
Leading up to the event, Anthony promoted the book signing through Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor, helping introduce many new visitors to the gallery. The event attracted hummingbird enthusiasts, photography lovers, conservation supporters, and members of the local community, many of whom were visiting HVAA for the first time.
Guests had the opportunity to meet Anthony, hear stories from his travels throughout the Americas, and learn more about the conservation challenges facing many of the world's hummingbird species. Visitors also enjoyed viewing Anthony's exhibition displayed on panels #16 and #20. Hemet Mayor Linda Krupa attended the event and spent time visiting with guests, demonstrating her continued support for the arts and cultural programs in our community.
The event was a tremendous success for both Anthony and HVAA. The gallery welcomed several new members, and gross sales exceeded $3,000. In addition to Anthony's award-winning book, visitors purchased his enamel hummingbird lapel pins, note cards, journals, and his stunning framed hummingbird photography. The increased gallery traffic also resulted in sales of member artwork and handcrafted jewelry, benefiting many of our artists and artisans.
Anthony also introduced visitors to the International Hummingbird Society's Certified Hummingbird Haven Program. As an IHS Board Member and Conservation Committee member, he encourages homeowners to create hummingbird-friendly habitats that provide food, water, shelter, and support for local and migrating hummingbirds.
