Demonstration Saturday with Christine White

Saturday, June 6, 2026

The flyer we put out announcing our June demonstrator said it all: Christine White demonstrates an art style that is representational, blending fine art and imagination, often portraying surreal stories of places, plants, and creatures found in nature.

As our guest speaker, Christine talked about a story she’s writing - which includes photos, art, and music - about a character named Lady Skunk and her (mis)adventures. She began the afternoon by displaying 3D representations of Lady Skunk and her two friends, Rat and Black Widow, that she created (or, in the case of the spider, is beginning to create) using paper-mache, fake fur, and “trash,” which is probably better known as recyclable materials.

One of the minor characters is Squirrel, who is hit by a car and was killed. Using a photo collage she’d created to illustrate “Squirrel going to the nut farm” as an inspiration piece, Christine started a painting, demonstrating how to de-emphasize a portion of an image by softening its form and desaturating its colors.
