Tracy Anderson: August 2026 Featured Artist
Art has been part of Tracy Anderson’s life for as long as she can remember. She studied art in high school and junior college before earning a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of California, where her studies included foundational courses in art and illustration.
Although Tracy experimented with oils in the early 2000s, she began painting more seriously after joining the Hemet Valley Art Association in 2010. At the gallery, she studied watercolor with Evert Furrey and quickly developed a love for the medium. She later explored abstract acrylics with Audry Winkler and participated in a mixed-media workshop with Golden Paints Ambassador Chris Cozen. Tracy continues to develop her watercolor work through advanced classes with Betty Pilley.
Her interest in learning and creating has also taken her beyond the gallery. In 2023, Tracy traveled to Malta for an Urban Sketching workshop with Studio 56, followed by another workshop in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2024. While watercolor and mixed media remain her primary focus, Tracy’s creativity extends into many forms, including woodcarving, matchbook dioramas, domino books, art dolls, printmaking, polymer clay sculpture, fused glass, jewelry, and more.
Urban sketching has become another important part of Tracy’s artistic life. She was introduced to the movement through Urban Sketchers San Diego in 2015, regularly traveling there to participate in the group’s outings. In 2024, she brought that experience closer to home by starting the Hemet Sketchers in association with HVAA. The group meets each Tuesday at locations throughout Hemet, capturing interesting buildings, historic homes, and other familiar scenes in their sketchbooks.
