Demonstration Saturday with Sara Edwards

Saturday, March 7, 2026

Teachers make great demonstration artists; they are used to talking to groups of people, creating an atmosphere of ease in a room full of diverse artists, lecturing without lecturing, and fielding questions while they work. Sara Edwards, an instructor at the Idyllwild Arts Academy (a boarding school with students from all over the world) was no exception.

While Sara said she had a passion for art as a child, it really came together when she worked selling art supplies for Jack Farleys and The Art Depot. These days she teaches drawing, painting, and art fundamentals and oversees seminar classes where students post their own work. And while she was talking, she made a robin come to life on canvas. It was a bit of magic.
